The Data Analyst’s primary responsibility in the Risk Research team is to contribute to GeoComply’s success by ensuring continuous development and improvement of Anti-Fraud systems. The ideal candidate for this role is a person with an analytical mindset, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a dynamic environment. The Data Analyst should take responsibility and always see a path forward to success. We expect that the candidate enjoys working in collaborative teams and has excellent interpersonal skills. You have experience working in short, iterative development cycles and have a great passion for working in fast-paced development process environments. 

You will have an opportunity to work with an international team, with colleagues in Canada, the US, and Vietnam. This role will report to the Manager, Risk Research and you will work closely with Data Analytics, Reporting, Data Science, Development, and Business teams. In addition, you will have the opportunity to influence the development plan directly, research, and develop your ideas for the product.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Data analysis of production data to detect fraud signs and location spoofing;
  • Develop and strengthen automatization of anomalies detection via Python scripts;
  • Test and improve current anti-fraud features on both client and server sides;
  • Research geo-blocking bypass methods to reproduce location spoofing and find similar attempts in the production data;
  • Review reports, both internal and client reports, and create appropriate SQL/Python scripts;
  • Organize data in an easily understandable format using graphs and pivot tables;
  • Collaborate with the Reporting, Data Analytics Teams in Vietnam;
  • Collaborate with a client’s Anti-Fraud Teams and work on developing non-geolocation anti-fraud solutions;
  • Follow best practices and processes established by the team;
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s technologies, process and teams.
 
About You
  • 2+ years of work experience as a Data Analyst;
  • Education or training in a relevant field;
  • Strong knowledge of Python (NumPy, pandas, etc.) and SQL;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to prepare reports and write documentation;
  • Ability to build visualizations and present findings;
  • Strong ability to operate independently and make clear and thoughtful decisions;
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English (both verbal and written), with the ability to effectively communicate complex information in a simple manner.

Bonus Points if You
  • Experience in big and complex data sets analysis Delta Lake and Spark;
  • Experience in risk management and fraud detection.
