Currently, we are looking for an experienced MS SQL Database Administrator to join the team responsible for Providing database support services to application teams and Technology Services Group (TSG) operations teams including the Network Operations Center. May require knowledge of multiple databases. Your primary duties include database software installation, upgrade/patching, infrastructure management, and creation and support of application databases.


This position requires work Mon-Fri from 2 pm to 10 pm (Poland Local Time)


What you will be doing:

  • Installation, patching, and migration of new versions of SQL Server
  • Maintain the availability, performance, integrity, and security of database systems
  • Implement and maintain security best practices
  • Manage high availability technologies - Always On, Failover Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping and Replication
  • Management & Monitoring of backup & recovery process
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Meet commitments and provide excellent customer service at all times with internal and external clients
  • Provide status reports (written and/or verbal) that are detailed to tasks and difficulties encountered – enables managers to initiate escalation if necessary and assess areas where changes or additional support may be warranted
  • Participate in the logical design process of strategic projects and be responsible for the physical design/implementation
  • Provide specific direction on infrastructure design to support applications
  • Participate as a member of the development support team on projects
  • Follow and meet project timelines and deadlines
  • Report problem performance areas and recommendations for improvement
  • Provide 24/7 support for production database environments
  • Implement backup/recovery procedures to protect the integrity of data in a database environment
  • If necessary, participate in the recovery of databases and assist with disaster recovery testing and documentation


What you need:

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server database administration
  • Experience in implementing, patching, and supporting SQL Server versions 2016 – 2022
  • Experience supporting SQL Server in the public cloud (Azure, AWS)
  • PowerShell, T-SQL Scripting and Automation (Ansible experience but not essential to the role)
  • Experience with DR implementation strategies
  • Demonstrable experience working in high SLA environments and ITIL service delivery disciplines and practices
  • Ability to work independently and drive on-time delivery of assigned projects
  • Respond to operation incidents, performing timely root cause analysis and resolving problems to prevent reoccurrence
  • Experience in project management methodologies is desired including the ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan, i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources
  • Working knowledge of at least one database management system or a proven ability to learn new technologies and use that knowledge effectively
  • Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to, and participate with peers/team members
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems and systems administration concepts
  • Personal commitment to stay current with latest technology concepts
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Identifies and resolves less clearly defined problems using established procedures and/or protocols as guidelines
