The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Corporate Services Directorate - Information Technology (CS IT), Transversal Services Department (TSD), Digital Solutions Division (DS), Collaboration & Intranet Systems Unit (CIS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an (Associate) Test Automation Engineer. This is a full time position at grade 4/5.


The term of this contract will be 4 years.


Panel interviews are anticipated for July 2021.


The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirementsand individual performance.

Purpose


As (Associate) Test Automation Engineer, internally referred to as Analyst/Officer IT Applications, you will drive the testing in the development, deployment and maintenance of one or more IT applications supporting a Bank business area. You will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the functional and technical testing of application releases.

Operating Network


You will report to the Head of the Collaboration and Intranet Systems Unit and collaborate closely with business users, business managers, IT project managers, business analysts and IT developers.

Accountabilities


  • Contribute to the definition of procedures and identification of improvements for the testing of in-house developed solutions to continuously improve quality and timeliness of the deployment of the IT applications
  • Configure regression and non-regression functional tests for new releases throughout the application development life cycle and perform such tests on new releases including progress reporting to management
  • Propose and follow-up on the implementation of solutions for the automation of functional testing including development of the automated test scripts
  • Propose improvements and ensure the design and implementation of necessary processes, procedures, IT standards, methodologies and working tools in own domain
  • Develop and execute test plans, including schedules and approaches, test cases, metrics, reports and procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet the organisation’s standards and end-user requirements and that these are accurately documented and communicated in an appropriate manner
  • Perform and lead tests of software and/or IT systems to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects and conduct walk-through on test cases/scripts with project managers and development leads
  • Perform verification activities on work applications using defined methods, procedures and criteria with an appropriate verification environment
  • Lead workshops/discussions to increase understand project goals, workflows, complex business needs, gaps, and opportunities
  • Identify gaps in current products or solutions, and recommend and create new solutions to fill these gaps

Qualifications


  • University degree in Business, Information Systems or similar relevant field
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional IT experience particularly in the Quality Assurance domain of application development
  • Experience in quality assurance, test methodology, test execution and test automation
  • Experience in executing testing and developing test automation including designing of regression tests. Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium) and tools (Katalon Studio or any other suite)
  • Ability to translate user requirements and user stories into test strategy, test cases and test automation.
  • Understanding of business process, software development lifecycle and IT practices.
  • Experience in providing technical document summaries and in drafting training material and user communications
  • Experience in collaboration and document management tools using SharePoint and/or OpenText would be an asset
  • Knowledge of modern software project management techniques (e.g. RUP, Scrum), and project management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and good command of French (*). Knowledge of another language of the European Union would be an asset.
