Specialist Resource to Support R&D Automation Projects
Job Description
The objective is to strengthen the automation program/project delivery capabilities by applying effective, scalable, and standardized PMO governance - improving planning, decision-making, and follow-up - so that automation workstreams can progress with predictable timelines, clear accountability, and reliable reporting.
Identify and assess strategic initiative opportunities:
Gather input from stakeholders through meetings and review cycles (e.g., pain points, bottlenecks, manual effort, reporting gaps).
Assess current PPM governance processes, templates, workflows, and reporting formats.
Propose initiative options and drive alignment on objectives, impact, scope, and adoption approach.
Implement new strategic initiatives and embed them into the PPM ecosystem:
Translate strategic intent into actionable governance and PMO changes.
Build and deploy standards/templates for automation projects to ensure consistent quality, usability, and faster execution.
Establish and roll out consistent Ways of Working for automation program teams to enable scaled delivery.
Develop decision-ready governance artifacts:
Create decision-ready steering/gate materials and guidance that help stakeholders make timely, informed decisions.
Ensure governance artifacts are structured to support predictable decision timelines and reduce rework.
Lead operationalized improvements:
Support PPM tool implementation and adoption by e.g. aligning templates, workflows, and reporting formats to governance requirements.
Identify and implement targeted enhancements that enable new strategic initiatives.
Drive adoption and continuous improvement.
Lead enablement activities (e.g., onboarding, playbooks, training sessions, office hours, Q&A) to ensure teams adopt the new initiatives effectively.
Monitor outcomes and continuously improve PMO processes and governance communications to sustain value realization.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in PMO teams with a specific focus on identifying and implementing strategic initiatives.
Strong documentation practices and attention to detail.
Demonstrated capabilities within change management.
Proven experience delivering PMO enablement outputs such as developing templates and governance material structures.
Experience working in or supporting portfolio/program governance, including understanding decision-ready materials.
Strong writing and presentation skills, focusing on structure, consistency, and stakeholder readability.
Nice to Have:
Experience in automation, R&D, engineering operations, or similar technical environments.
Experience with governance frameworks (e.g., stage-gate, steering committee governance).
Experience facilitating workshops or onboarding sessions for project teams and governance stakeholders.
Experience supporting PPM tool implementation/adoption.
