Senior Analytics Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to drive data-driven decision-making within on the Platform Central Data (PCD) squad, a mixed Data Engineering/Analytics Engineering team. You'll own the design and delivery of trusted analytical models, metrics frameworks, and insight products that power developer productivity, platform health, leadership decision-making, and ML and AI Platform Metrics. You will also build and operate data pipelines that feed these analytical products. Working closely with DE teammates, plus Product, Engineering, and Platform partners, you'll translate complex platform signals into well-modeled, self-serve data assets that help our client ship faster and safer.

What You'll Do
Own end-to-end analytical data modeling using dbt (or equivalent SQL-based transformation frameworks), designing clean, well-documented, and performant models in BigQuery that serve a broad set of stakeholders.
Build and operate reliable data pipelines using SQL and Python, with strong testing, observability, and CI/CD. For distributed processing you will use Apache Spark or Scio, or equivalent technologies like Apache Beam or Flink.
Define, maintain, and evolve key metrics and KPIs for platform health, developer productivity, and ML/AI platform adoption, ensuring consistent definitions across dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc analysis.
Partner with Data Engineers to shape upstream pipelines and with Product, Engineering, and Data Science partners to scope requirements, validate assumptions, and deliver actionable insights.
Improve data quality, performance, and cost efficiency across existing pipelines and models, including troubleshooting, backfills, and iterative hardening.
Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve data products that enable leadership and cross-functional teams to make informed decisions without bottlenecks.
Champion data quality, testing, and documentation practices across the analytics layer, including CI/CD for dbt models, data contracts, and proactive monitoring.
Mentor junior team members, drive technical standards for the analytics engineering discipline within PCD, and contribute to cross-squad best practices.
Contribute to agile rituals and take part in a fair support rotation for key pipelines, datasets, and analytical products.

Who You Are
You have 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field, with deep expertise in SQL and analytical data modeling.
You have extensive experience with dbt (or equivalent SQL-based transformation frameworks) and a cloud data warehouse such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks SQL.
You have experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Scio (Scala for Apache Beam), or equivalents like Apache Beam or Flink.
You have used a workflow orchestrator such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Flyte, and you care about reliability, monitoring, and testability.
You have a strong track record of defining and operationalizing metrics frameworks that drive product and engineering decisions.
You are proficient in Python for data analysis, automation, and tooling, and comfortable working in a codebase alongside software and data engineers.
You have experience with BI/visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or equivalent, and know how to design dashboards that tell a clear story.
You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners, and you can influence priorities and drive alignment across teams.
You have experience mentoring others and raising the bar on data quality, documentation, and modeling standards.
Experience in platform and developer productivity, experimentation, or ML and AI platform metrics is a plus.
