The main activity in the position is network area. The role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), WiFi networks and firewalls across the organization. In addition, the Network and Security Specialist will participate with the monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also take part in analyzing and resolving network problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

In the security area the role is to support day-to-day operations of the in-place security solutions including identification, investigation and resolution of security breaches detected by those systems. Secondary tasks may include involvement in the implementation of new security solutions, participation in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments.


Responsibilities:


Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in the planning and design of cloud and enterprise network architecture.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Respond to IT security incidents and related systems outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Participate in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures) under the direction of the IT Security Manager, where appropriate.


Acquisition & Deployment

  • Take part in designing and deploying company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including, routers, switches and other hardware.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsources, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Participate in the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures and the enterprise’s security documents.


Operational Management

  • Keep current with the latest technologies.
  • Monitor cloud and network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Monitor and test network performance.
  • React to cloud and network shortages and malfunctions.
  • Participate in managing all cloud and network security solutions.
  • Monitor all in-place security solutions for efficient and appropriate operations.
  • Participate in investigations into problematic activity.
  • When potential threat or breach attempted found, closing off the security vulnerability.
  • Participate in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.


Position Requirements:


Formal Education & Certification

  • Preferred college diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, Information Technology or related.
  • 3 years equivalent work experience in networking and/or cloud area will be additional advantage.
  • Certification in Cisco networking technology area will be important additional advantage.
  • Strong communicative English required.


Knowledge & Experience

  • Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Firewall technologies in general.
  • Knowledge of PaloAlto and Fortigate firewalls will be an additional plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft cloud services will be additional advantage.
  • Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Intermediate MS Office with good MS Excel skills.
