A person in this role will become an expert on Egnyte and competing products. In order to do that, you will need to go beyond the features page and thoroughly explore different platforms from the technical standpoint: this is where your engineering expertise will come into play. The insights you generate will have a significant impact on how our sales and marketing teams articulate Egnyte’s unique value proposition.

The role
As a Competitive Intelligence Systems Engineer at Egnyte, you will:
- Research, analyze, and keep up to date on the competitive landscape and market trends.
- Build out and manage Egnyte’s competitive intelligence lab: an environment where you (and, later on, your teammates) can perform hands-on testing of different platforms.
- Analyze Egnyte’s own platform systematically, compare it with our competitor’s product offerings, and communicate your insights to our sales and product development teams.
- Experiment with our platform and competing products: your curiosity will help to identify improvement areas and influence Egnyte’s product roadmap.
- Create comparison-focused materials (e.g., technical briefs) that our customer-facing teams can utilize.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Enablement, and Development to make sure Egnyte’s critical market differentiators are identified and appropriately highlighted.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on new feature ideas with a competitive perspective in mind.
- Understand real-world usage and challenges associated with business unstructured file data and verify how different platforms address these needs.
About you
- Relevant experience in systems engineering or administration (in mid to large enterprises).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with on-premises or cloud-based systems or SaaS solutions.
- Relevant technical certifications (MCSE, M365, etc.) or some level of technical education.
- Experience in building, maintaining, and managing testing labs and testing analysis frameworks.
- Strong understanding of file storage and collaboration industry as well as popular solutions for housing unstructured business data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you will need to communicate with Egnyte’s international team effectively.
- Great organizational skills, adaptability, and proven ability to work independently—one of your tasks will be to learn and experiment with new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion according to deadlines.
