About the role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who has a great mix of technical background and passion for driving successful teams.

As an Engineering Manager at Duco, you will be overseeing and coordinating the work

of the engineering team to ensure the successful enhancement of our platform. You will be responsible for guiding the team in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Additionally, you will be providing mentorship and support to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment, and aligning engineering efforts with overall business objectives.

What you will be working on:

• Provide leadership and direction to a team of 3-6 engineers - owning the planning, execution, and success of complex technical deliverables
• Ensuring that the team is making sound architectural & technical decisions from the inside - contributing code, code reviews & quality assurance to help the team move faster
• Acting as a liaison between the development team and product managers, designers, and other teams. Communicating technical aspects to non-technical stakeholders
• Continuously improving software development processes and methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to inform technical decisions and keep the team competitive. Identifying potential risks in software projects and proactively implementing strategies to mitigate them.
• Hiring and line management within the team, including performance management and reviews, helping to grow your team members’ careers
• Shaping the future of the engineering organization - contributing to process & practice development to put the teams in the best position to succeed

Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams in a fast-growth environment in a SaaS model, making strategic decisions and fostering continuous improvements
• Strong technical background: practical experience in the technical side of the software development process, good knowledge of the following tech stack: JAVA, SpringBoot, React, Ruby
• Experience with progressive agile methodologies -  a proven track record of building an agile environment around people that encourages autonomy, teamwork, and innovation
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability in decision-making, ensuring follow-through on collective decisions and learning from both successes and failures
• History of empowering team members - encouraging autonomy, innovation, and creativity within established guidelines
• Strong communication skills with a track record of providing regular updates on team outcomes and acting as an ambassador for company and engineering values
