We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join us in a very exciting time for Capital.com! This role will support the Data Engineering team with ongoing operational duties, including improving the quality and speed of our data processing and helping in the migration and modernisation of data systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the data platform architecture and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Data Science and Analytics teams.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional partners and internal teams to collect requirements and provide quality service.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for scalability, implementation of monitoring systems, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, AWS Redshift, Postgres, Airflow, AWS S3, AWS ECR.
  • Champion Data Governance and Compliance, ensuring data handling and storage complies with relevant laws and regulations.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience and an excellent track record as a Data Engineer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data architecture, database management, data processing, data mining, and machine learning.
  • Proficiency with the following: Python, Airflow, AWS cloud services incl. S3/EC2/EMR, SQL/NoSQL DBs incl. Postgres/Redshift, Kafka data streaming, Tableau and other data visualisation tools.
  • Continuous delivery, DevOps and MLOps experience - automation, monitoring, logging and auditing.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural, cross-location team.
