ROLE OVERVIEW
Brainly is scaling! We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to support us in building out the data infrastructure to power the advanced analytics in revenue and growth! The current shift in education, due to the pandemic, has resulted in an acute shift in how students learn. As Brainly is quickly evolving to help students with their new learning needs, you, as part of the Finance Team, will help develop comprehensive data models in subscriptions, advertising, traffic and many more areas to unlock actionable insights. You will be building data models on real-time financial and operational data, so that the business can quickly gain insights on performance metrics on several product verticals across geographies and help illuminate the path ahead in collaboration with other product and growth teams.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a diverse and complex infrastructure, make an impact and be an owner of a solution. You like bringing new ideas to an existing approach and making it more powerful, as well as incorporating organizational-wide standards and practices to your workflow. You are comfortable with change and wearing multiple hats in product and data analysis when necessary.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own the design, implementation, maintenance, and accuracy of end-to-end data flows for revenue and engagement related data products
- Understand business context and translate stakeholder needs into well-designed data models
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines to ensure highly accurate and reliable solutions for analytical needs
- Work cross-functionally with analysts and various engineering and data science teams to identify and execute new opportunities
- Continuously improve and optimize the data models supporting advanced analytics product delivered as executive reporting data products
- Ensure the quality of data supporting advanced analytics as part of the data ownership requirements
- Work collaboratively with solution engineering and data ops to contribute to a high performance and scalable data infrastructure to meet fast growing data needs around the whole company
- Be part of the wider data engineering community for performance monitoring and capacity management
- Educate business stakeholders and analyst peers on the best ways how to use data
- Assist with the project for migrating relevant data models to Snowflake data mart
- Wear multiple hats as data product manager, data analyst when necessary
WHAT MAKES YOU THE PERFECT CANDIDATE
- At least 4-5 years in a similar position in Data Engineering or related field
- Experience in implementing change data capture patterns
- Experience in cloud-based infrastructure, especially AWS redshift
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Deep understanding of relational databases and data warehouse and data modeling principles
- Understanding of differences between different kinds of pipelines: operational ones, near real-time and analytical ones
- Working knowledge of AWS Services(Redshift, Kinesis, S3), GCP Big Query
- Working knowledge of ETL Tools (e.g. Fivetran, Matillion, Ascend) and understanting of ETL concepts
WHAT WILL BLOW OUR MINDS

- Knowledge of reporting/visualization tools (Tableau, Metabase, Google Data Studio)
- Experience with PySpark
