WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

Box is looking for a Senior Staff Software Architect to join the Security, Enterprise, and Compliance (SEC) team. The SEC team’s mission is to protect and govern content at each stage of its lifecycle by seamlessly building in security, governance, and compliance into frictionless experiences that power our Intelligent Content Management for customers. This role will have the opportunity to greatly influence the technical direction for the entire SEC Org and work cross functionally within various domains.

This role has many interesting challenges, covering the macro and micro level, and everything in between. You will make key architectural decisions within the Security Admin facing products powered by ML, as well as our compliance feature offering. You will work closely with Engineering and Product leaders on prioritization and business trade-off discussions in order to guide the teams most effectively. You will also influence the technical roadmap to build large scale data processing with quality gates and developer productivity mindset.

As a Senior Staff Software Architect, you will have the opportunity to define the next generation of Security Products in Box’s robust offerings.

Your impact at Box

• Drive complex architectural decisions & trade-off discussions across 3 different verticals - Security, Enterprise Admin products and Compliance offering.

• Coach and develop senior technical leaders

• Use your experience to contribute to and inform company objectives across team and function in creative, effective and diplomatic ways

• Be hands-on working on code, both in terms of prototyping and contributing production changes

• Work closely with the engineering team and leadership to develop strategies for evolving the platform

• Collaborate with Product Management to help refine requirements and break down complex projects into meaningful, deliverable units

• Use a data driven approach to devise strategies for processing customer content while balancing requirements from a efficiency, quality and security perspective

• Lead architecture-oriented discussions and the architecture working groups within SEC organization

• Be the go-to person and a sounding board for the local teams in Poland

Who you are

Box executives are a cohort of engaged and passionate leaders who share a mindset focused on customer centricity, innovation, and growth. As a leader in this role you have:

• 12+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong focus on building distributed systems in Java

• Extensive experience in software architecture and system design roles

• You are an advocate for a high quality of work and a guardian for service quality at every phase of development and operation

• Experience in migrating monolith application to microservices

• Experience working with large volumes of data and traffic and how to scale systems efficiently

• Experience with SaaS offering that have 4 9’s or higher SLA requirements

• Experience in processing data for use in AI/ML applications is a huge plus

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

• Must be able to travel to the US (Redwood City, California) at least twice a year
