IT Expert Network Engineer
Based: Łódź, Poland



This role will be part of a global team, with a presence in different regions (APAC, Europe, and North America) and reporting to our Global Network Manager. The Global Network team provides WAN and LAN (including Wireless) services to all 130+ locations worldwide, in all geographical regions. The expert in our central Network team will also have touch points in peer service pillars such as IT Infrastructure Security and Hybrid Datacenter.

We are running a market-leading SD-WAN platform based on VMWare Velolcoud in a fully outsourced managed services contract with a Tier 1 supplier in all our locations. For the LAN services, we are investing and transforming from Cisco Catalyst families to Cisco Meraki cloud-managed solutions. The wireless network is already fully standardized on Cisco Meraki wireless. Other solutions like Network Access Control (NAC), IP Address Management (IPAM), Monitoring solutions (PRTG) wrap up the service scope we offer to our business.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work and deliver Requests for Change, Incidents, Service Requests, based on RemedyForce.
  • 24x7 support may be necessary for a globally coordinated service model (follow the sun approach) in the scope of the highly outsourced landscape, however will be distributed across team.
  • Monitoring network performance.
  • Ensure system availability and reliability (SD-WAN, LAN, and WLAN) 
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning and management of system alerts and notifications (e.g. knowledge of monitoring tools).
  • Work on escalated support issues related to infrastructure, WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, security, and remote access solutions (VDI).
  • Support installations (M&As, Greenfields) or replacements (Lifecycle management) for LAN and WLAN components, and work with our outsourced supplier for WAN components.
  • Participate in the administration and maintenance of the Local area Network of various sites, checking inconsistencies, troubleshooting, periodic system review, escalations, etc.
  • Perform lead architect and/or design authority role in projects and complex setups that might require network services.
  • Select, implement and maintain network security tools (i.e. Network Access Control), policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
  • Document maintenance for network infrastructure (i.e. Runbooks, Test Plans, Fall back, etc).
  • Communication with end-user /customer as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.
  • Collaborate with Managed Services Providers (Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, etc)
  • Be available for other engineers (Local IT) and coach them to resolve complex network challenges.
 
About you:

  • Master’s degree in IT or related areas is an asset
  • Thorough understanding of ITIL processes.
  • Experience in SLA-oriented service delivery 24x7.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Significant experience in an IT Network and/or Telecommunications role.
  • Proven experience as a technical point of contact in administration and supporting large network environments and complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and drawing (design, topologies) skills
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols like TCP/IP, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, 802.1x, QoS, and network services such as DNS, DHCP.
  • Deep understanding of WLAN (radio frequencies (RF), link performance, reliability, and quality)
  • Deep knowledge of Cisco products, with special emphasis on Meraki Cloud Managed Solutions (MS, MX, MR, etc). Cisco’s general knowledge is highly appreciated. Other switch brands (HP Aruba, Mellanox) are a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of network segmentation tools and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
  • Good understanding of multi-cloud networking.
  • Good knowledge of Network Access Control, especially on HP Aruba Clearpass.
  • Knowledge on VMware ESXi is a plus.
  • Monitoring tools (e.g. PRTG, Dynatrace)
