Product Manager

About the role

The Product Manager (ShipEngine) is responsible for ensuring that the company’s API products and platforms are best in class. The Product Manager plays a crucial role by guiding the efforts of our technology teams to improve our platforms and APIs. They must engage with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. go-to-market product, engineering, partners, and customers) to recommend and design state of the art solutions for our API and platforms. The Product Manager must create value propositions that justify investments in features and improvements and have the ability to articulate this value across each of the stakeholder groups. The role will partner closely with teams across the company to translate business strategy into effective features to achieve business objectives.

This role will work on ShipEngine and its merchants and will be heavily focused on developer, tech partner and enterprise shipping integration experiences. The Product Manager will manage the backlog for engineering teams located both in Spain and Poland.

The Product team defines, launches, analyses and maintains the company’s slate of industry-leading features and programs. Our goal is to simplify the shipping experience for our customers by offering products that are best in class.

What will you be doing?

• Translate vision and strategy into clear value propositions, product requirements, and specifications.
• Create wireframes and specifications.
• Gather business and technical requirements from external and internal stakeholders.
• Advocate for the customer and improve the user/developer experience to provide innovative solutions.
• Work within an Agile product development process to launch new features.
• Collaborate with operation teams, development, other project managers, designers, and QA engineers to ensure feature integrity.
• Manage the product development life cycle to support product releases on a regular basis.
• Manage numerous projects from inception through launch including Go-To-Market coordination of training, marketing, pricing/billing, & legal.
• Author corresponding Knowledge Base articles, help and developer documentation.
• Own, manage and prioritise the backlog of features and bugs based on ROI and dependencies with other product managers, development teams and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the overall Product Vision and Roadmap.
• Advocate for features that will help drive the business strategy and vision.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all development and business stakeholders in order to ensure effective and timely delivery of features.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create a roadmap and schedule of features.
• Monitor ongoing performance of features and act as point of contact for any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a technical discipline
• Minimum of Two (2+) years’ experience working in Product Management in a platform or API product, OR
• Three (3) years of experience working in Technical Product Management in an unrelated field.
• Strong understanding of APIs and Developer experiences (e.g. REST, SOAP, GraphQL, Github etc.. ).
• Ability to discuss and recommend API contracts, platform and system design with technical team members.
• Proven track record of launching new platform and API features and functionality.
• Ability to communicate effectively, develop compelling recommendations, and inspire team members, cross-functional partners, and company leaders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to understand our market and products.
• Passion for great developer and user experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Exceptional analytical and fact-based problem-solving skills.
• Excellent presentation skills, including developing presentation content and public speaking.
• Highly organised, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Superior multi-tasking and time management skills.
