You are an engineering manager passionate about observability, automation, and reliability who is comfortable working in a fast-paced innovative environment interacting with developers, senior leadership, and non-technical individuals. You are comfortable collaborating and coordinating efforts on cross-team projects and can provide a strong technical vision for systems and infrastructure teams. You are capable of leading a discussion with upper management and are able to tailor the level of technical detail to suit your audience. You have a high tolerance for taking risks and a passion for challenging the status quo.
Us
The Site Reliability Engineering team at Apptio is responsible for building our Kubernetes platform in AWS and driving the adoption of SRE across our engineering teams, as well as, supporting teams in their adoption of the latest technologies. In this role, you will play a lead role in driving the adoption of our platform for one of our biggest product lines in Europe. You'll also be tasked with leading and coaching engineers through observability initiatives to build world-class SaaS applications.
Responsibilities
We are looking to hire someone with these skills.
- You are expected to work with a high degree of autonomy
- Take an initiative role in prioritizing the roadmap for the SRE Org
- Mentor, grow and empower your team by giving them the skills, confidence, and motivation to make decisions
- Help your team to build and execute personal development plans
- Participate in deep technical design discussions with your team and peers to ensure we are making the right investments
- Ability to drive large initiatives by collaborating across multiple teams
- Exquisite communication skills
Qualifications
We'd be delighted to hire someone who:
- Has experience collaborating with team members in a mostly remote team
- Has Hands-on experience as a software or site reliability engineering
- Has experience building OKRs
- Has experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Has experience managing observability tools (e.g., Datadog, SignalFx, Prometheus, Thanos)
- Has experience developing tools and APIs
