Our Infrastructure Engineering & Operations organization builds and maintains Akamai's Platform, one of the largest distributed platforms in the world. The team is responsible for designing and developing networking software running on Akamai switches, routers and servers.

Partner with the best

Our team is responsible for developing software running on Akamai routers and Host Networking on our Cloud Compute Servers. You will participate in the full software development life-cycle of our cutting-edge networking devices, starting from designing software architecture, through development, testing and deployments. You will also contribute to network topologies and systems design.

As a Principal Networks/Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Creating and ownership of network and systems designs
• Designing and developing software according to the highest standards
• Collaborating with various Akamai teams and industry partners
• Learning about our distributed systems, products, and the technical stack that is necessary for your role

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have solid knowledge of computer networks topologies and routing protocols
• Have working experience with Linux environment and internals (networking, security)
• Have experience in programming (C/C++, Golang and Python)
• Be familiar with DevOps and CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins, Docker)
• Possess excellent verbal, presentation and written communications skills in English
