Principle duties and essential functions

The primary responsibility of the Software Engineer will be to design, develop and maintain software in DCNOS (Data Communication Network and Operating Systems) group according to technical specifications, high-level requirements and/or published standards.

Other tasks and responsibilities

  • Assisting in the systems’ design activities
  • Software design
  • Software development
  • Performing unit integration tests (UIT)
  • Providing assistance to both, internal and external customers in determining and solving problems, evaluating current systems or making decisions on future development

Knowledge, skills and experience required

  • Practical experience in the use of Linux as a development environment (development, debugging)
  • Good understanding of Ethernet as well as the TCP/IP protocol
  • Good knowledge of C and C++
  • Experiences with the SCM systems: Subversion and/or GIT, as well as with GNU make
  • Must be a self-organized team player, crossing cultural boundaries with the ability to work across time zones
  • Must have professional written and oral English communication skills
  • Must be a self-motivated/independently working person able to handle multiple distinct and concurrent tasks, and work under pressure
