Job description

Principle duties and essential functions
The primary responsibility of the Software Engineer will be to create software components for Ethernet Access devices which are used for provisioning and to monitor services in Carrier Ethernet Networks. The software is implemented based on telecom standards like IEEE, MEF or ITU.

Other tasks and responsibilities
- Designing, development and maintenance of software for Ethernet over Multi-Media Access devices according to technical specification and/or published standards
- Full lifecycle application development from design through development and test
- Investigating, analyzing and fixing reported defects
- Performing unit tests
- Documentation of the development process according to ADVA guidelines
Knowledge, skills and experience required
- Ability to work at the system architecture level in multiple areas of the system or as an expert in a significant technology domain
- Good C/C++ programming skills
- Object-oriented software development skills
- Good knowledge about UNIX/Linux systems
Optional requirements
- Good knowledge of IP, UDP, TCP
- Solid understanding of data communications networking with an emphasis on Ethernet technologies
- Familiarity with Telcordia/IEEE/ITU-T/MEF/EFM networking standards
- Familiarity with XML technology and with management protocols (SNMP)
