ServiceNow Discovery / Integration Specialist

We are looking for an experienced ServiceNow Discovery / Integration Specialist to support the design, configuration, and optimization of our ServiceNow ITOM suite. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise with ServiceNow Discovery, Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE), and CMDB data integrity management.

Knowledge requirements:

• Full understanding of ServiceNow Discovery architecture, including MID Server, Probes, Sensors, and Patterns

• Deep knowledge of the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) — identification rules, reconciliation priorities, and source precedence logic

• Expertise in ServiceNow ITOM suite components: Discovery, Service Mapping, Cloud Discovery

• Strong understanding of network and system discovery protocols such as SNMP, SSH, WMI, HTTP, and JDBC

• Familiarity with integration concepts for SCCM, vCenter, AWS, Azure, and monitoring tools

• Understanding of CMDB data flow (Discovery/import source → IRE → CMDB class update)

• Experience with CMDB class alignment and CSDM mapping for discovered Configuration Items (CIs)

Technical skills:

• Configure and schedule Discovery jobs (IP ranges, credentials, MID Server selection)

• Develop and troubleshoot Discovery Patterns for servers, databases, network gear, and cloud resources

• Install and configure MID Servers (Windows/Linux); validate connectivity and ECC Queue communication

• Configure and debug Identification Rules and Reconciliation Rules in IRE to prevent duplicate CIs

• Manage IntegrationHub, Scripted REST APIs, and Import Sets for external data ingestion

• Parse and normalize incoming data (XML/JSON/CSV) before loading it into CMDB

• Analyze Discovery logs and resolve classification, pattern, or probe failures

• Tune source precedence and reconciliation behavior between Discovery and external data sources (SCCM, AWS, etc.)

• Create validation queries in CMDB Query Builder to check data integrity post-import

• Perform controlled Discovery activities in production environments, ensuring minimal impact on target systems
