About the position

As a Senior Java Backend Engineer within Advanced Analytics Team, you will join the central AI team to build and maintain robust, production-grade AI-enabled services on a global scale. You will work in a cross-functional environment with ML Engineers, Platform Engineers, AI Architects, and DevOps, taking end-to-end ownership from design through reliable operations. In this role, you will help establish consistent engineering standards for security, observability, and delivery, and contribute to scalable internal platforms and shared services that accelerate teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java-based backend services and REST/SOAP APIs powering AI-enabled solutions: clean interfaces, robust domain models, and maintainable data access patterns.

• Deliver cloud-native microservices using Docker and Kubernetes, with attention to scalability, resilience, and cost.

• Integrate and standardize API exposure via gateway patterns, including authentication/authorization, versioning, and usage policies.

• Establish and maintain observability standards using Dynatrace and other monitoring tools (dashboards, alerting, distributed tracing, and runbooks).

• Diagnose and resolve complex issues across microservices, clusters, and pipelines; perform root-cause analysis and preventative improvements.

• Embed security and resilience: secrets management, Keycloak-based authentication, least privilege, container security best practices, and disaster recovery patterns.

• Engineer for regulated environments: implement audit-friendly practices such as traceable changes, reliable logging, and disciplined handling of sensitive data.

• Collaborate with ML Engineers, Platform Engineers, AI Architects, and DevOps to deliver shared foundations and consistent standards across global teams.

• Champion Claude Code as an active daily tool for development, debugging, code review, and documentation tasks.

Required Experience & Skills

• Proficiency in Java 17+ and backend technologies such as REST, SOAP, JSON, YAML, XML.

• Familiarity with Git/GitHub, Docker, SQL (DB2, PostgreSQL), CoPilot/Claude Code, Maven, Kubernetes/AWS, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Nexus.

• Knowledge of Keycloak, Dynatrace, A3K Framework, Airwave, CISL API, Jira/Confluence.

• An agile mindset with experience in Agile methodologies and English proficiency at B2 level.

• Basic knowledge of AI technologies, principles, and their practical use.

• German language skills are an advantage.
