Job Description

Position Summary

Visa is recruiting a Sr. Staff Software Engineer for Global Token Services team to bring creative thinking and innovation to the testing of our key products. Working with a team of talented engineers you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing the testing technology and approach across exciting enterprise applications where reliability, performance, scalability, and security are vital. 

The candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of the platform that enables cloud-based mobile payments. Be able to coordinate and manage input from business and technology stakeholders across the enterprise and be responsible for the design and execution of large-scale technology initiatives. 

The role is a self-organized Lead Software Engineer with solid JAVA, J2EE, Ecommerce and web service development experience.  In this position, you are first and foremost a passionate and talented developer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of Agile Scrum teams.  Your strong technical leadership, problem solving abilities, coding, testing and debugging skills is just a start.  You must be dedicated to filling product backlog and delivering production-ready code in three to five week sprints.  You must be willing to go beyond the routine and prepared to do a little bit of everything. 

This position is based in Warsaw, Poland and will report to the Director of Product Development.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading a team of development staff on the architecture, design, development, and implementation of software applications. This includes providing technical coordination, oversight and leadership for development staff.

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of a functional track.

• Work closely with project team members (scrum masters, architects, product owners, analysts, testers and functional managers), and coordinate and lead interfaces with other groups (e.g. Network, QA, Operations, Engineering, etc).

• Engage in technical design of solution that is based on use cases and business requirements.

• Complete proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs and solutions.

• Drive the development, review, and approval of technical designs, code reviews, and other engineering deliverables in accordance with established standards and best practices.

• Use AI tools to improve development speed, quality, and efficiency, and coach peers on integrating them into everyday engineering workflows.

• Engages development leads and architects (both enterprise and domain) to ensure that overall Enterprise Architecture is inclusive of all stakeholder viewpoints and are vetted to ensure that artifacts supports, reflects, advances and integrates as intended.

• Ensures inclusion of Visa’s business vision, current business environment (internally and externally) and technology and industry trends to enable results that drive Visa’s business.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MS or other related advanced degree preferred.

Typically requires 12+ years of experience in application services development for large scale systems

Experience with web services standards and related technologies (HTTP, HTTP2, Spring, XML, JSON, REST, WS*, AXIS, JERSEY).

Expert in Java with experience in REST APIs, distributed systems, and exposure to container-based technologies.

Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development efficiency, improve workflows, and mentor peers on effective usage.

Experience with messaging systems like Kafka.

Solid understanding of database technologies and SQL.

Exposure to Non-SQL database technologies

Proven problem-solving skills and an ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities, and challenges

Strong work ethic to focus on organizational goals.

Proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand the requirements and independently, architect, design and build the solution.

Passion to work with people and help mentor team to reach new heights.

Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills

An understanding of end-end system and strong debugging and root cause analysis skills to help support production systems.

Preferred Experience in payments integration and / or online ecommerce shopping and / or Payment gateways.
