Power BI Consultant / Developer

Algomine, part of the Transition Technologies PSC Capital Group, is looking for an Azure Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an additional person to join our BI team and support the development of reports and analytical solutions in Power BI.

We do not expect someone to be an expert in everything. What matters to us is a person who understands the full BI process - from working with the business, through data and modeling, to the final report - while potentially specializing more strongly in one of two areas.

The first area is visualization & storytelling: designing clear, visually appealing, and useful reports, choosing the right visuals, shaping report UX, and presenting data in a way that supports business decision-making.

The second area is data modeling & data preparation: preparing data, working with Power Query, DAX, SQL, semantic modeling, business logic, data quality, and model performance.

The most important thing for us is the ability to work with the business: gathering requirements, asking the right questions, understanding the context, and translating user needs into concrete Power BI capabilities. We value curiosity when working with data, a willingness to understand business processes, and an approach in which a report is not just a screen, but a tool for making decisions.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards.

• Analyzing business needs and translating them into analytical solutions.

• Collaborating with business users to gather requirements, clarify expectations, and present solutions.

• Creating and developing data models and preparing data using Power Query, DAX, and SQL.

• Designing clear, intuitive, and aesthetically pleasing visualizations to support business decision-making.

• Ensuring the quality, consistency, and performance of Power BI models and reports.

• Participating in the development and maintenance of the Power BI environment and data publishing and refresh processes.

• Collaborating with the BI team to design and develop analytical solutions.

• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting and analytical processes and proposing new solutions.

Requirements

• Experience working with Power BI.

• Good understanding of the BI solution development process.

• The ability to work with business requirements.

• Knowledge of DAX and/or Power Query.

• Basic understanding of data modeling.

• The ability to create reports, models, or data preparation processes.

• Analytical thinking and attention to detail.

• Good communication with business users.

• Independence and readiness to work as part of a team.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric,

• Knowledge of Power BI Service, RLS, data refresh, workspaces, and basic governance,

• Experience with data warehouse, lakehouse, or BI architecture,

• Knowledge of tools such as DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Git, deployment pipelines, TMDL, or PBIP,

• Experience with Power Automate or Power Apps,

• Practical use of AI in everyday work, for example for analysis, documentation, prototyping, research, or automation.
