Software Engineer - Backend (Stores Fulfilment)

About the role

As part of the Stores Fulfilment, you will have the opportunity to work on software applications and services that are transforming the way Tesco manages its warehouse operations. Your work will enhance the experience of our colleagues in depots and drive greater efficiency across our extensive fulfilment network.

This role requires you to be based in or near Kraków, as you will spend 60% (3 days) of your week collaborating with colleagues at our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely.

You will be responsible for

• Taking end-to-end ownership of software throughout its entire lifecycle in a DevOps environment.

• Designing, developing, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality code.

• Proactively identifying problems and proposing effective technical solutions.

• Collaborating closely with team members, both giving and receiving support.

• Designing, proposing, and reviewing system and architecture solutions.

• Ensuring high standards of performance, availability, reliability, scalability, and security.

• Contributing to the definition and delivery of features for services owned by your team.

• Supporting continuous integration, delivery, and deployment to production.

• Monitoring and supporting services in production environments.

• Communicating progress and outcomes clearly to team members, managers and wider stakeholders.

Key technologies:

• Languages & Frameworks: Java, Spring Boot

• Architecture & APIs: Microservices, REST API

• Data & Messaging: Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Kubernetes

You will need

Mandatory skills:

• Experience with Java programming

• Basic System Design Skillset

• Experience with SQL Databases

• Problem Solving Mindset

Nice to Have:

• Kubernetes Knowledge
