We are actively seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to lead our engineering team in delivering cutting-edge, cloud-based solutions for Tesco Retail's Workforce Management.

We value connecting, collaborating, and innovating with our colleagues in person. At Tesco Technology, we work in a hybrid model. This role requires you to be based in or near Kraków, as we currently meet in the office three days a week.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct performance assessments, provide feedback, and guide career development for team members
2. Mentor the development team, ensuring the implementation of best practices, design principles, and coding standards
3. Ensure processes and standards that enable high-quality software delivery
4. Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, shaping technical strategy and roadmap
6. Define project scopes, timelines, and ensure alignment with business goals
7. Monitor project progress, mitigate risks, and maintain alignment with enterprise standards
8. Foster innovation and explore new tools/methodologies
9. Inspire the team to deliver clean, efficient code based on industry standards
10. Create comprehensive technical documentation
11. Implement security tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk) and oversee adherence to security best practices
12. Manage application performance and asset monitoring (e.g., Splunk, New Relic) for seamless operation

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

1. Strong understanding of Java or NodeJS
2. Expertise in modern testing frameworks and tools, including Playwright. Ability to guide and support test automation efforts
3. Comfortable with DevOps practices involving configuration management, CI/CD pipelines and IaaC
4. Experience in building and maintaining testing environments
5. Proficiency in containerization and orchestration tools (for eg. Docker / Kubernetes)
6. Experience and familiarity with Public Cloud platforms such as Azure
7. Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies

Personal Skills:

1. A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing software development teams of 6-8 people
2. At least 5 years of hands of testing / QA experience
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
4. Proven success in building, developing, and leading high-performance software engineering teams
5. Experience in hiring, retaining, and developing engineers, ensuring growth opportunities and maintaining motivation
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges
7. Passion for staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies
8. Expertise in defining and executing QA strategies through the entire product lifecycle (influencing the requirements and creating comprehensive test cases)
9. Deep understanding of various testing methodologies and testing types (e.g., functional, performance, security, usability).
