BMC Discovery (Subject Matter Expert)

The BMC Discovery Subject Matter Expert (SME) will collaborate with Project Managers and Technical Leads to implement and maintain Discovery systems, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, system design, and architecture. This role involves designing and deploying Discovery architecture for Air-Gapped networks, facilitating security accreditation, and providing comprehensive support throughout project phases, from testing to transition to operations

Your role

• Implementation and Architecture:
• Implement Discovery systems based on agreed technical requirements.
• Develop Discovery architecture and data exchange systems for Air-Gapped networks.
• Ensure the Discovery application(s) and system(s) achieve security accreditation.
• Technical Coherence and Documentation:
• Support the Technical Lead in maintaining technical coherence across multiple project streams.
• Develop Build and Configuration documentation for Discovery systems.
• Assist in creating Testing and Training documentation.
• Testing and Transition Support:
• Support Factory Acceptance and User Acceptance Testing events for Discovery systems.
• Assist in transitioning Discovery systems to operations post Go-Live, including handover activities to the Operations Team.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline; alternatively, 5 years of equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience in large-scale BMC Discovery (version 22.x and higher) deployments (BMC Certified Professional – DSM beneficial).
• Recent experience in configuring BMC Remedy ITSM (version 20.02 and higher) CMDB (BMC Certified Professional qualification beneficial).
• ITIL 2011 (or later) Foundation certificate beneficial.
• Experience with BMC TrueSight Operations Management (version 10.x and higher) is advantageous.

• Technical Expertise:
• Minimum 3 years of experience with BMC CMDB and Discovery implementation in NATO environments.
• Proven expertise in installing BMC Discovery (version 22.x and higher) in single/multi-tenancy and highly available/resilient designs.
• Proficiency in configuring BMC Discovery to integrate with Remedy ITSM CMDB (version 20.02 and higher).
• Extensive knowledge of Discovery architecture in Air-Gapped networks.
• Experience in deep discovery across various network node types and computing endpoints, including non-SNMP configurations.
• Proficiency in integrating BMC Discovery with TrueSight Orchestration (TSO) for automated and targeted discovery executions.
• Skilled in integrating BMC Discovery with external vendor infrastructure systems to maintain CMDB data accuracy.
• Expertise in troubleshooting integration with Remedy Atrium CMDB.
• Strong background in Linux and Windows server environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure solutions hosting Service Management tools and technology, including networking, hypervisors, storage, and load balancing.
