Senior Automation QA Engineer
Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Automation QA Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Poland. Our client is one of the world's largest food retailers.
The team operates under a DevOps philosophy and takes responsibility for the software throughout its lifecycle. They practice continuous integration, delivery, and support of our code through to production and beyond.
Office work is expected 3 days per week at the Kraków office.
Requirements:
5+ years of proven, hands-on experience in Java with a strong focus on test automation and quality engineering.
Deep understanding of advanced software testing methodologies, including functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
Demonstrated expertise in performance testing and results analysis using tools such as Gatling or k6.
Strong knowledge of HTTP protocols and practical experience debugging with browser DevTools.
Experience designing, maintaining, and executing test strategies and suites for complex, scalable applications.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows (e.g., Git), with a mindset toward continuous delivery.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, coupled with strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead discussions, influence decisions, and represent QA in cross-team initiatives.
Nice to have:
Hands-on experience with modern testing tools such as Playwright or Cypress.
Experience in building and managing testing infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.
Responsibilities:
Review and contribute code.
Focus on performance, availability, reliability, and security.
Contribute to the definition of features for services owned by your team.
Effectively communicate your and your team’s progress to your team members, your manager, and other colleagues.
Lead the development and continuous enhancement of robust, scalable test automation frameworks using Java (REST assured).
Own the execution and management of both manual and automated test cases across a variety of complex scenarios and environments.
Provide high-quality standards through rigorous performance testing using tools like Gatling or k6, and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Drive quality initiatives and risk-based testing strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, and product.
Analyze test outcomes and generate comprehensive reports on coverage, defects, and release-readiness metrics.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior QA engineers, supporting their growth and ensuring consistent practices across the team.
Investigate and troubleshoot issues using HTTP protocols and browser DevTools, ensuring precision in defect isolation and resolution.
Take ownership of the testing lifecycle, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
