What it’s like to be a Junior DevOps Engineer at STX Next
As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you’ll support the team in building and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. You'll work on tools that help developers deploy applications efficiently and securely, while also learning best practices in infrastructure as code, GitOps, and cloud technologies. With guidance from experienced engineers, you’ll tackle real DevOps challenges and help create reliable environments for development and testing.
Responsibilities
Co-creating an environment that increases the autonomy and efficiency of other teams within the company
Developing your skills with team support
Supporting the team by solving current DevOps challenges
Maintaining and developing our new infrastructure
Helping create tools and solutions for developers that will assist them in deploying applications to Kubernetes clusters and cloud environments
Co-creating infrastructure for testing applications written in Node.js
Implementing solutions for metrics, logs, and tracing
Assisting in the development of CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
Must have:
Superb communication skills: being comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas, knowing how to collaborate both with IT and non-IT stakeholders, staying open to exchanging feedback.
Proactiveness: taking initiative, actively looking for opportunities to propose improvements, keeping ownership of your work.
Practical experience in Kubernetes infrastructure setup and management (it can be proved by working on your own infrastructure in homelab environment)
Familiarity with Helm (you know how to develop Helm charts)
Experience with FluxCD or ArgocD as CD tools
GitOps knowledge
A working knowledge of IaC (e.g., in Terrafom)
Understanding of modularization and component reusability
Basic knowledge of integrating IaC into CI/CD pipelines.
Good knowledge of English (min. B2)
Nice to have:
Familiarity with AWS infrastructure.
