Job description

Online interview
At StuDocu, our mission is to empower everyone to excel at their studies by providing the best tools to study more efficiently. StuDocu is the world’s leading community for university students. Every month we help more than 15+ million university students to get smarter, faster. After rapid and profitable growth in the Netherlands, we are now taking the rest of the world by storm fuelled by a further investment of 50 million USD.

There are at least 3 valid reasons why you will love working at StuDocu as our new UX/UI Designer. First, we A/B test our product like crazy to validate our design and product decisions. Second, StuDoucs’ design team is a growing, multinational organism and we invest in user research to find the best possible solutions for problems our users all around the world may be facing. Third, while working on both, new and existing features, you will collaborate with people across the whole company and affect 15 million students who are using our solutions on a monthly basis.

For now, StuDocu adopted a flexible remote-first policy, but we still require our 50+ employees to be located in or near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. We encourage our employees to visit the office once every other week to build relationships and socialize while abiding by the safety rules.

We are supporting our new colleagues in the relocation process, so you won't have to be concerned about the administration or costs of plane tickets. If you would like to learn more about relocation to Amsterdam you can check out articles about tax benefits (30% ruling) and why this city is called the biggest tech-hub in Europe or "silicon canals of Europe".

What you'll be doing:

  • Formulating hypotheses together with your team and turning them into first-rate design solutions.
  • Collaborating with developers to reach high-quality implementation.
  • Measuring the performance of your decisions with the team and iterating when needed.
  • Approaching design in a data-driven way.
  • Researching on users’ perspectives and competitive landscape to generate solutions.
  • Running end-to-end design process for a variety of initiatives for web, app, and marketing purposes.

More reasons why you are going to love it here:

  • You will learn every day, interacting with a great international team of talented and ambitious people. You will have a huge impact and a clear footprint.
  • As there is a single design team the design work is very diverse as you’ll be working on our web and app but also anything else that needs design.
  • We work hard to make the world a better place and we celebrate success. Be it by organising a company trip to Bali or "workstations" for a specific team.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional design experience.
  • You can translate requirements into functional, usable, and beautiful designs.
  • Experience working on designs for consumer products with a large user base.
  • Experience in validating design solutions using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining design systems would be a plus.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to discuss design decisions confidently at all levels.

Perks and benefits:

  •  Competitive salary.
  •  Noise-cancelling/reducing headphones.
  •  All tech equipment needed to do your tasks well.
  •  24 holidays per year + possibility to take unpaid holidays.
  • Company-sponsored work from home setup.

  •  Two weeks of additional paid birth leave at 100%.
  •  International team with over 20+ nationalities.
  •  Flexible work/work from home policy.

  •  Yummy lunch freshly prepared @office from our chef Valentijn.
  •  Company-sponsored coffee, drinks, snacks, & office supplies @office.
  •  Open bar = Friday drinks.
  •  Lots of company events, team building activities and parties.
  •  Pet-friendly office (also with a no-pets zone).
  •  Big annual company trip!
