Junior Software Engineer, Platform Identity
The Platform Identity team builds the secure foundation that enables millions of users to access the Splunk and Cisco ecosystem seamlessly and safely. Your Impact
As a Junior Software Engineer on the Platform Identity team, you will contribute to designing, building, and improving identity services that support authentication, authorization, and user lifecycle management across Splunk and Cisco products. You will work closely with senior engineers to implement secure and scalable features, maintain existing components, and learn best practices in distributed systems. You will have opportunities to explore identity protocols, contribute to API development, and get hands-on experience with modern security and IAM technologies. Success in this role means demonstrating curiosity, growth, solid technical fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate effectively with your team.
Minimum Qualifications
Academic or early professional experience in software development (internships, projects, open-source contributions, or equivalent).
Basic understanding of authentication or authorization concepts (SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0 are a plus, but not mandatory).
Fundamental programming skills in C++ and/or Go (university coursework or project experience acceptable).
Understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, networking basics).
Eagerness to learn secure, distributed systems and identity technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to AI/ML concepts or coursework.
Familiarity with cloud services or IAM concepts (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) at a basic level.
Knowledge of directory services (LDAP or Active Directory) or willingness to learn.
Participation in open-source projects, coding competitions, or personal technical projects.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
