Transmission Engineer (NaaS)
We are looking for a Transmission Engineer (Network as a Service) to join an international military-political organization (NATO).
Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium – relocation is required.
The candidate is required to possess a valid NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET (CTS) security clearance.
Responsibilities:
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for managed transmission infrastructure services, including network management, system maintenance, and engineering support.
Perform online network management covering fault, performance, accounting, configuration, and security management for transmission services delivered via NGCS and DCIS, including both legacy/TOM and IP/MPLS technologies.
Deliver engineering support for:
Network interconnections,
Smart and intelligent multiplexers,
Data switching and routing equipment,
Terminating equipment, including modems and cryptographic devices.
Support operations and maintenance of assigned transmission systems, including interfaces and protocols.
Analyse incident reports and trends related to assigned systems, services, and networks.
Prepare and support Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), operational advice notices, system and equipment configurations, interface standards, and procedures.
Provide technical support for planning and implementation of system configuration changes and network enhancements.
Deliver specialist advice and knowledge transfer to other technical staff.
Conduct technical reviews to ensure implementation projects comply with NATO service and deployable system requirements.
Develop, maintain, and review technical documentation, including engineering guidance notes for CSU and DCIS technical personnel.
Assist remote sites in resolving transmission-related incidents.
Verify, maintain, prepare, and publish services and systems documentation.
Experience and Education:
University degree in ICT System Engineering or a related discipline, supplemented by qualifications within the C4ISR domain.
Strong experience in installation, testing, integration, configuration, and programming of:
IP/MPLS routing and switching networks,
Legacy and TOM transmission networks.
In-depth knowledge of:
Alcatel Lucent Service Routers, Service Access Routers, and switches,
Cisco routing and switching equipment.
Knowledge and experience with modern communication systems such as IP/MPLS and DWDM, as well as legacy transmission technologies.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in English (min. C1).
Required Certifications:
Alcatel Lucent Network Routing Specialist II (NRS II) or higher (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge).
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing & Switching or higher (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge).
Desirable Experience and Knowledge:
Experience working with NATO transmission networks, interfaces, and encryption devices.
Experience in operation, administration, and maintenance of digital telecommunication and transmission systems.
Knowledge and/or experience with DWDM and SDH technologies, particularly:
Alcatel Lucent optical products,
Sagem/Siemens SDH solutions.
Experience with RAD Megaplex products and management tools.
Knowledge of NETIS / Promina systems.
Prior experience in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
Offer:
On-site position in Belgium (Braine-l’Alleud) - relocation is required.
Full-time, long-term B2B contract with Shimi, renewable for up to one year.
Start date: 08 February 2026.
Rate: up to 66 EUR/hour /net.
Security Clearance: NATO Cosmic Top Secret (CTS).
