Deep Tech Investment Analyst

We are looking for a Deep Tech Investment Analyst (m/f/n) to join our client's team, working on a project for one of the EU institutions in Luxembourg.

Tasks:

Task 1 – Establish Data Foundations for Market Intelligence

Objective: Build structured, reliable, and reusable datasets to underpin market reports and analytics

• Identify and consolidate company-, market-, and financing-level data

• Structure and curate datasets for multi-use reporting and analytics

• Support data migration (e.g., Venture Debt portfolio) into target platforms

• Ensure data quality, validation, traceability, and documentation

• Define data governance, access controls, and compliance framework

• Document data models, taxonomies, and IT-to-business rationale

• Enable analytics, benchmarking, and pipeline identification

Task 2 – Develop Expert Market Reports

Objective: Produce high-quality, data-driven, expert-led market intelligence reports on deep-tech sectors and financing ecosystems

• Provide sector expertise (cleantech, AI, space, quantum, life sciences)

• Define analytical frameworks, narratives, and key messages

• Analyse and synthesise market structures, trends, companies, and the financing landscape

• Translate analysis into publication-ready materials

• Design digital, interactive reports

• Develop visualisations and dashboards

• Support production of derivative materials

Task 3 – Use Cases, Insights & Stakeholder Engagement

• Define and prioritise ecosystem intelligence use cases

• Produce insights materials (charts, dashboards, slides)

• Support internal reporting and external engagement

• Contribute to ecosystem narrative and positioning

Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or Business Engineering. (Minimum requirements).

• Holding postgraduate degrees and/or relevant training certifications in financial sector analysis, data analytics or management will constitute an asset.

• CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) qualifications (studies/certificates in progress)

General professional experience

• At least 5 years’ experience in providing an expert view on specific deep tech sectors (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors, quantum, life sciences, and space), by drafting and publishing materials (newsletters, market reports, social media posts). (Minimum requirement).

Specific professional experience

• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in the field of finance, preferably in venture capital, venture debt, private equity finance.

• Proven track record of managing our financial and operational analyses on transaction and portfolio level, and knowledge of contractual clauses used in equity/venture debt investment documentation. (Minimum requirement).

• Knowledge of the standard MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power Automate), expressed as examples of use at work. 

• Experience with or systems used for portfolio management and reporting (e.g., Power BI) will be an asset.

• Specialization in Portfolio Management, demonstrated by preferably 2 years of professional experience, will constitute an asset.

• Solid understanding of data management and data visualization tools, with knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, BigQuery, and preferably 1 year of professional experience, will constitute an asset.

• Preferably, 1 year of professional experience in working with IFIs or European funds will constitute an asset.

• Preferably 1 year of professional experience in business Analysis of Financial Products and Identification of Banking Best Practices (will constitute an asset).

• Preferably 1 year of professional experience in data migration, working with venture capital/venture debt data, and portfolio management and monitoring tools (will constitute an asset).

• Preferably 1 year of professional experience in European equity/blending (will constitute an asset).

Language and other skills

• Working command of the English language (CEFR C1) (minimum requirement).

• Advanced skills in MS Excel, basic knowledge of SQL or another programming language, demonstrated by relevant qualification certificates or at least 1 year of professional experience (will constitute an asset).
