Database Enginieer

We are currently looking for a candidate to contribute to the projects of our client – SAS Institute.

Job  Description:

• Monitor and Maintain Database Systems: regular monitoring databases and related systems to ensure optimized performance, maintenance tasks
• Installation Services: installation, configuration, and upgrading of database server software and related products
• Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, errors, outages and 24x7 on-call support
• Database Configuration and Tuning: configure and fine-tune database settings for optimal performance and reliability
• Backup and Recovery: implement and manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability
• Security Management: ensure compliance with security policies
• Collaboration: work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and optimize database operations
• Automation: automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and automation tools
• Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures

Must haves:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Experience as a Database Engineer or similar role including database security and authentication mechanisms
• Strong knowledge of database architecture, design patterns, and best practices
• Proficiency in database installation, configuration, and management
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and networking
• Experience with Kubernetes administration and orchestration
• Experience with SingleStore, Redis or Kafka
• Experience with Azure and AWS including their native database services
• Experience with PL/SQL or other database procedural language
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Shell, Python, or similar languages
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interact well with development groups and end users

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL Based RDBMS Systems
• Experience with SAS software
• Experience with 3rd party tools such as Toad, Erwin or other design and db access products
