System Architect

Our global Digital Document Services (DDS) team provides essential support to all Business and Functional Units within Schenker, focusing on digital creation, distribution, archival, and document access processes. We aim to enhance Schenker's digital document management through various initiatives.

As a "System Architect" in Document Management (DM), you will contribute to developing reliable and efficient document management systems. As part of our international product management team located in Warsaw, Poland, and Essen and Frankfurt, Germany, you'll design core interfaces for Schenker's major transport management systems, including air and ocean operations.

Your tasks:

• Own the design, implementation, and enhancement of DM backend components, including applications, APIs, and integrations.
• Analyze change requests for the DM application in collaboration with SMEs and Business Analysts.
• Ensure new features comply with DM Solution Architecture and Schenker's architectural standards.
• Drive technical design changes based on evolving requirements and create documentation for architectures.
• Conduct system tests, improve technical quality, and collaborate with DBAs and DevOps to address operational issues.
• Manage DM system architecture with SMEs and product administration, and work with solution architects on design reviews.
• Serve as a backup SME and coach developers on design patterns, clean architecture, and microservices.

Our requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 2+ years in technical leadership roles (e.g., Lead Developer, Architect) with an overall 6+ years in IT.
• Expertise in the Java ecosystem, with hands-on experience in Spring Boot, JMS, and JAX.
• Experience in asynchronous backend design (Pub-Sub) using SQS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with AWS services: EC2, RDS, EFS, SNS, SQS, and S3.
• Knowledge of ELK stack and Prometheus for log and metrics monitoring.
• Familiarity with microservice patterns (Domain Driven, Event Driven, CQRS) is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Understanding of database design and performance analysis.
• Experience in creating clear system interface documentation.
• Business fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Strong cross-cultural communication skills and an international mindset.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
