About the project
Samsung Ads is an advanced advertising ecosystem, spanning hundreds of millions of smart devices across TV, mobile, desktop, and beyond. The project we are recruiting for is focused on enabling brands to connect with Samsung TV audiences building the world’s smartest advertising platform. We use machine learning algorithms for advertising campaigns to enhance targeting, personalization, and optimization. The goal is to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time, resulting in higher engagement rates and conversion rates.
Audience building is a crucial aspect of effective marketing, especially in today's digital landscape where targeting specific groups of people is essential for success.
During project on-boarding process you will understand our products and services to easily identify the ideal customer persona, considering factors such as demographics, psychographics, and purchasing power. You will use machine learning algorithms to segment an audience based on their characteristics and behaviors. Leveraging lookalike modeling and other advanced techniques you will expand reach beyond our existing customer base. Lookalike modeling involves finding people who share similar characteristics with our current customers, increasing the likelihood that they will engage with Samsung brand.

You will deeply dive into Samsung Advertising Galaxy working with such exciting domains like bidding, pacing and performance-based advertising, as well as recommendations and churn prediction/prevention.
As a data scientist of the Samsung Ads team, you will have access to unique Samsung proprietary data to address existing product challenges, uncover new revenue/profit opportunities, and build end-to-end solutions with real-world impact. You will also work with talented engineers and top-notch machine learning researchers on exciting projects and state-of-the-art technologies.
In conclusion, you will play a pivotal role in Samsung Ads by analyzing data, discovering insights, and guiding the development of targeted marketing strategies. Your skills in data manipulation, modeling, and interpretation will enable our organization to create more effective and personalized advertising campaigns that resonate with their intended audience.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide data-driven insights and deliver production-grade solutions to maximize the value of our data.
- Research the latest machine learning technologies and keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
- Verify that the collected data is accurate, consistent, and free from errors. This step includes cleaning missing values, handling duplicates, and transforming data into a usable format.
- Design and implement next-generation machine learning models with advanced technologies.
- Create quick prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new features and products.
- Regularly test your audience targeting strategies and adjust them based on performance metrics. Experiment with different messaging, ad formats, and targeting options to determine what resonates best with each segment.
- Closely work with ML Engineers and ML Ops Teams to deploy and streamline machine learning products and end to end pipelines on the advertising platform to drive business growth. Our models will use the data to make predictions and recommendations, such as selecting the most appropriate ad format, choosing the optimal target audience, and setting the right bid amount for each impression.
- We are monitoring the performance of our campaigns regularly and use the feedback to refine our models. As new data sources become available, you will adjust the models to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer behavior.
- Communicate with various stakeholders to understand business requirements, manage expectations and create effective roadmaps.

Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in science or engineering fields.
- At least 2 years of proven industry experience.
- Problem-solving skills and creative thinking to address open challenges in various fields.
- Teamwork spirit.
- Theoretical background and experience in data analytics, data mining, machine learning and statistics.
- Experience with ML libraries (e.g.: Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark ML, etc.) mainstream big data tools (e.g.: Spark, Snowflake, etc.).
- Programming skills in Python or OOP.
- Knowledge of SQL and databases.
- Experience in source code versioning tools (e.g.: git, etc.).
Nice to have
- PhD in science or engineering fields.
- Over 4 years of proven industry experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python or OOP.
- Deep theoretical background in machine learning and/or data mining.
- Hands-on experience with production-grade machine learning solutions and/or software development.
