Project: Building vertical AI solutions for a UK financial services organisation

• Graph Tech (highly valued): Knowledge Graphs, GraphRAG, Neo4j / Neptune / open-source graph stacks, entity resolution, relationship reasoning

• Engineering: CI/CD (GitLab), AWS, Docker

Project Overview

We are building AI solutions purpose-built for UK financial services - not just wrappers around existing APIs. The client's mission is to engineer reliable AI systems that work seamlessly in a regulated environment. As Lead Machine Learning Engineer (AI Tech Lead), you will own the AI strategy across the full stack, from data ingestion to deployment and monitoring.

Key initiatives include:

• AI Co-Pilot for Advisers: Supports client calls, automates admin, and generates structured suitability reports.

• Compliance & QA Platform: Analyses all customer interactions to detect risk and ensure Consumer Duty-aligned outcomes.

This role offers high ownership and the chance to shape AI innovation in a regulated sector.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build production-grade AI systems (beyond simple API calls), including retrieval pipelines, evaluation harnesses, and engineered workflows.

• Lead greenfield AI initiatives end-to-end: data processing → modelling strategy → deployment → monitoring and iteration.

• Audit and optimise existing AI features for performance, accuracy, robustness, and scalability.

• Establish evaluation & quality standards: metrics, regression testing, traceability, and failure-mode handling suitable for regulated environments.

• Apply graph-based approaches where relationships matter (e.g., entity linking, non-linear reasoning, risk/compliance signals).

• Mentor engineers and set best practices for AI development, deployment, and maintainability across the team.

• Translate complex product/domain requirements into clear technical plans and execution.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in software engineering, including designing and delivering production systems end-to-end.

• Graph tech experience is a key differentiator - experience applying graphs to solve non-linear/relational data problems is strongly preferred.Proven experience building and maintaining production ML/LLM systems, not only prototypes.

• Strong understanding of embeddings, retrieval, evaluation, model trade-offs, and reliability patterns in real systems.

• Ability to design scalable architectures and take accountability for technical decisions.

• A true builder mindset: pragmatic delivery, measurable outcomes, strong ownership.

• Evidence of custom model work or research contribution (portfolio, repos, shipped systems, publications, etc.).

• Fluency in Polish and an advanced level of English (B2/C1).
