About PeakData
PeakData provides market intelligence to optimise drug launch execution and resource allocation for pharmaceutical companies. Through AI-powered analysis of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and healthcare organizations (HCOs), we deliver actionable insights across multiple dimensions. We're an intelligence platform serving senior commercial leaders who need real-time market intelligence.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Staff or Senior Developer with a strong backend orientation to join our Data Platform team. In this role, you’ll focus on designing and building scalable services, APIs, and data processing pipelines that form the backbone of our platform.
While your work will occasionally touch frontend components, your main strength lies in architecting backend systems that are secure, observable, performant, and easy to extend. You’ll collaborate closely with our data engineers, AI/ML specialists, and product teams to deliver solutions that power real-world pharmaceutical decisions.
Technical Environment
You’ll work in a modern backend-heavy stack including:
- Python-based backend systems and services
- Event-driven and RESTful APIs
- AWS (Lambda, ECS, S3, Glue, CDK)
- Medallion architecture and lakehouse storage
- Batch and incremental data processing workflows
- PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and document-based NoSQL storage
- LLMs integrated via AWS Bedrock
Key Responsibilities Backend Development & Architecture
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure backend services
- Develop and evolve APIs that serve frontend apps, internal tools, and external integrations
- Lead the migration from batch to incremental data processing models
- Optimize performance and reliability of data-intensive backend components
- Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into backend workflows where appropriate
- Own key parts of backend infrastructure and drive their evolution over time
Engineering Excellence & Collaboration
- Uphold high code quality and engineering standards across the team
- Conduct thoughtful code reviews and pair programming sessions
- Keep high DevOps standards to ensure smooth deployments and operations
- Identify bottlenecks and refactor legacy systems to meet scaling demands
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Help define and improve engineering practices, architecture guidelines, and testing strategies
- Participate in roadmap discussions, sharing input on feasibility and architecture tradeoffs
Qualifications Required Technical Skills
- 8–10+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development
- Strong Python for building and deploying data processing pipelines
- Experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures
- Solid knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native application design
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
Nice-to-Have or Bonus Experience
- Argo and K8s experience,
- Experience with LLM integration and prompt engineering
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and observability tools
- Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or working in regulated environments
- Background in AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
