Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced Data and AI Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This is not a traditional development role. Beyond technical excellence, you'll take on significant product owner responsibilities, working directly with end users and product managers to understand business needs and translate them into really useful solutions for our clients. You'll help accelerate our product output and improve feature offering adoption whilst building brilliant technical designs.

Technical Environment

You'll work with our core data processing infrastructure including:

• Python-based data processing pipelines
• AWS cloud infrastructure with significant elements of open source solutions application
• Medallion data architecture (RAW/CLEANED/CURATED layers) and lakehouse for center data storage
• LLM integration via AWS Bedrock
• Mix of batch and incremental processing
• SQL and no-SQL for storage

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership

• Design, implement, and maintain robust data processing pipelines
• Lead our technical transition from batch to incremental processing
• Implement AI/LLM-powered automation to reduce manual platform configuration - on a path to a larger scale of customers and data handling
• Mentor junior developers while maintaining code quality standards

Product Ownership

• Understand customer problems and business objectives with product management oversight
• Make data-driven product decisions based on user feedback and business strategy
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications
• Prioritize feature development based on customer value, eliminating low-utility features
• Serve as a bridge between business needs and technical implementation

Continuous Improvement

• Implement metrics to track feature usage and drive iterative improvements
• Automate manual processes to improve customer onboarding efficiency
• Adopt and champion AI-assisted development practices within the team
• Contribute to our evolving data quality framework

Qualifications Required Technical Skills

• 10+ years of software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and data processing techniques
• Proven experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
• 4y+ experience with ETL focused processing
• Experience with AI/ML integration in data processing pipelines
• Basic knowledge of React for frontend development

Required Product Skills

• Track record of prioritizing features based on business value
• Proven success translating customer needs into technical implementations
• Demonstrated ability to make independent product decisions with minimal oversight
• Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfort working with ambiguous requirements
• Experience mentoring others in customer-centric development

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry experience
• LLM integration and prompt engineering
• AI-assisted development tools and practices
• Data quality frameworks and validation techniques
• Automation of complex manual processes
• Experience with healthcare data or regulatory requirements
