Java Developer – Backend Systems

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with a strong understanding of backend system design and practical DevOps skills. The role requires independent problem solving and decision-making abilities. You'll collaborate with international clients, shape secure systems, and gradually take over DevOps responsibilities related to our on-prem SaaS platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement data models for secure and efficient processing of large datasets.
• Deploy and manage applications in internal and external environments.
• Support environment provisioning, monitoring, backup/restore, and data migrations.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and system automation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Mentor junior developers and support QA/test teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

• Solid experience with Java, ideally Java SE 17 or higher.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL databases (PostreSQL preferred).
• Experience with multithreaded programming and backend-intensive applications.
• Hands-on with DevOps practices in a Java-based environment.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
• Experience in managing Linux-based servers and web servers (Nginx).
• Ability to work independently and switch into an application-centric DevOps role when required.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with secure infrastructure components (e.g., Hashicorp Vault, Keycloak).
• Exposure to virtualized environments (e.g., Proxmox containers and VMs).
• Knowledge of Azure or willingness to learn as we migrate services.
• Understanding of cryptography and secure data management.
• Front-end experience (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is a bonus.
