Senior Data Engineer
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a large-scale data transformation programme within a global media and streaming organisation.
You'll be working on modern cloud-native data solutions, helping to build and enhance scalable data products and platforms used across the business. The role combines data engineering, cloud technologies, automation, and platform development in a highly collaborative environment.
📍 Remote | UK-based Client (Media & Streaming)
🚀 Start: ASAP
📅 Long-term contract (6–12 months with possible extension)
🕘 Working hours: UK time (9:00–17:00)
Tech stack: Python, SQL, GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub), Airflow, Terraform, Dataform/dbt, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, APIs, Grafana, Prometheus
Must Have
Strong commercial experience with Python and SQL
Experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including: BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Functions
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow / Cloud Composer
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
Experience with testing, including integration testing
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures
Fluent English (B2+)
Nice to Have
Experience with Pub/Sub or event-driven architectures
Experience with Dataform or dbt
Knowledge of Grafana and Prometheus
Experience with GKE or Kubernetes
Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations
Experience with billing, payments, subscription, or finance-related data
Knowledge of Go and/or Java
Experience with Databricks or Google App Engine
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize cloud-native data pipelines and data products
Build scalable solutions for processing and integrating data from multiple sources
Develop and maintain data models using SQL and Python
Automate data workflows and improve operational efficiency
Manage infrastructure using Terraform and modern DevOps practices
Implement testing and monitoring strategies to ensure platform reliability
Support data quality, performance, and scalability initiatives
Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, and business stakeholders
Contribute to the continuous improvement of data platform capabilities
Participate in support and operational activities when required
