Node.js BackEnd Developer

Our Client

They are a creative, UK based, engineering studio that builds top-tier cross-platform digital products. Their strengths lie in combining research-informed product strategy, user-centric UX design, full-stack development across all major platforms, and client-focused product delivery. This holistic approach enables them to deliver tangible business outcomes—such as expanding reach with multi-platform solutions, reducing technical debt through modern technologies, gaining deeper customer insights via research, boosting engagement metrics, and providing scalable team augmentation—while fostering long-term, high-quality partnerships with globally recognized organizations.

The company has offices in London, New York, and Budapest, with around 70 team members (both contractors and full-time employees). Software development is carried out by the London and Budapest teams (the New York office focuses solely on business development), and working hours follow UK time.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js

• Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and product teams to deliver seamless digital products.

• Ensure scalability, security, and performance of backend systems.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.

• Integrate third-party services and APIs where necessary.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and propose innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• 4+ years of experience as a backend developer

• Experience with backend frameworks (e.g., Express.js, NestJS). 

• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication, and authorization.

• Hands-on experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

• Knowledge of testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

• Good command of English (both written and spoken).

Nice to Have

• Experience with GraphQL or microservices architecture.

• Knowledge of event-driven systems and message queues.

• Understanding of DevOps practices and infrastructure as code.
