Our client is a visionary leader in the SaaS industry, specializing in innovative software solutions for the insurance sector. Established over two decades ago, their comprehensive software suite underpins all key insurance operations, from policy management to claims processing. They are recognized for their customized solutions that cater to the unique requirements of their diverse clientele.

Currently, they are undergoing a significant technological overhaul, creating a new competence centre in Warsaw for IT and Finance roles, which involves substantial investment in cloud services aimed at developing a scalable, efficient system.

The newly created role of Director Cloud - DBA is pivotal in steering the company’s database and cloud strategy, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient cloud database solutions. This position will lead the cloud database administration team, oversee cloud infrastructure management, and facilitate the adoption of cutting-edge cloud technologies. The role demands an adaptive leader proficient in cloud and database administration, aiming for operational excellence in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.

key tasks:

• Lead the development and execution of the company’s cloud database strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Oversee the administration and optimization of cloud-based database systems to assure performance, security, and availability.
• Collaborate with software development and IT teams to integrate and support database solutions within cloud environments.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance database performance and uptime.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and implement disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data.
• Manage vendor relationships to procure and deploy cloud services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and service quality.
• Drive continuous innovation in cloud technologies, advocating for solutions that improve efficiency and reduce overhead.

essential experience and competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications in cloud solutions preferred.
• Minimum of 7+ years in database administration with a focus on cloud technologies, demonstrating increasing responsibility.
• 5+ years in supervisory and/or strategic leadership
• Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and hands-on experience with database technologies like SQL, NoSQL, etc.
• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a high-performing team.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing cloud migration strategies.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively across teams.
• Fluency in English; Polish language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
