Cloud DBA (SQL Server, Azure, DevOps)

We are seeking an experienced Cloud DBA (SQL Server, Azure, DevOps) to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing, optimizing, and modernizing our database infrastructure. You will be responsible for traditional DBA tasks while also contributing to our cloud strategy and DevOps initiatives, particularly in Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps environments.

This is an ideal role for a technically strong SQL Server DBA who has embraced cloud technologies and automation to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, monitor, and optimize SQL Server databases across Azure cloud environments
• Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, index and schema reviews
• Automate deployment and infrastructure tasks using Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines)
• Support data migrations, upgrades, and environment provisioning in Azure
• Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery (HA/DR), and backup strategies
• Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and DevOps engineers to streamline DB changes and release processes
• Ensure database security, compliance, and auditing standards are upheld
• Monitor system health using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or third-party solutions (Grafana)
• Participate in incident response and problem resolution

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA (2016 and above)
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure VMs, Azure Storage, Networking)
• Solid understanding of Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repos, artifacts
• Strong T-SQL skills and database troubleshooting expertise
• Experience with automating infrastructure deployments using ARM or PowerShell
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Grafana, etc.)
• Experience with backups, restores, Always On Availability Groups, and SQL clustering
• Working knowledge of security best practices in cloud and data environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, DP-300)
• High proficiency in SQL Performance Tuning (Indexes, Statistics, Partitioning, etc.)
• Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
• Knowledge of DevOps best practices (Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, Git workflows)
