WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for engineers to design, develop and extend our Common Runtime platform. This is a foundational platform which is used today to host container-based applications for high performance Data Analytics and Machine Learning platforms. We are planning for adoption to expand for global solutions and to serve as a foundation for other technology platforms and services. This position is at Nike Global Technology Poland Competence Center and will collaborate with teams at Nike World Headquarters (WHQ). A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) with an emphasis on container-based technologies including but not limited to Kubernetes.

A successful candidate will be self-motivated and hungry for developing global platforms that completely transform how Nike employees around the world search, explore, access and use Nike’s enterprise data. This requires a mindset that is ready to learn cutting edge development & deployment techniques and toolsets, and capable of teaching/coaching other team members such that the team’s collective acumen is constantly growing.

The ideal candidate can accept ambiguous requirements and work towards clarifying them. She/He can operate in a quickly changing environment and is not untethered by prior technical decisions.

Additionally, the successful candidate must have a high degree of technical and intellectual curiosity and be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) the reasoning, direction and technical strategy for future flexibility.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

As a member of the Common Runtime Team you will build, support and evolve Nike's foundational platforms making them more responsive, efficient and secure. Kubernetes continues to play an increasingly significant role in our platforms, and we are working on solutions to manage and automate cluster deployments, upgrades and releases. These platforms will offer you the opportunity to both build and leverage some of the most cutting-edge patterns and practices found in the data science and analytics communities today. WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will work within a highly collaborative, multi-discipline environment. You are going to work with product management to support product and service scoping activities. Your role will be to explain designs and constraints to stakeholders and technical teams and to work with leadership to define delivery schedules of key features in an agile fashion. You will work and coordinate with security teams in the European Union to ensure that Secure by Design and Privacy by Design principles are continuously met. You may share backlogs with global teams, requiring strong ability to communicate openly and clearly and provide concise, thorough documentation.
