At NAVBLUE our software development teams are formed around a matrixed organization consisting of Tribes and Chapters. Team members belong to a Chapter, in which skills, competencies, and standards are owned, solidified, and grown. They are also members of a Squad (scrum team) where they utilize those skills and competencies to support the Tribe in the production and delivery of quality software.

You’re an intermediate-senior developer looking for a challenge and leadership opportunity. You’ll be part of a team building our next-generation services for commercial aviation customers. As a developer advocate, you’ll interface with many development teams to use native cloud services; and keep the conversation alive with new standards, technologies and reference implementations.

Main responsibilities

1. Support the design, deployment, and management of AWS infrastructure components (ECS, S3, RDS, Servless SQS/SNS) in alignment with internal cloud standards.
2. Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to support repeatable and secure deployments.

4. Monitor cloud environments for availability, performance, and security using AWS-native tools.

6. Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and streamline cloud operations
7. Assist in managing cloud cost controls and propose optimizations to improve efficiency
8. Continuous evaluation of AWS infrastructure, and we must anticipate, plan and roll out updates to ensure continuity of service.
9. Understand the cost and usage implications of services developed and running on AWS infrastructure.
10. You will optimize usage patterns and recommend improvements including but not limited to AWS quotas, financial costs, idling and scalability and services design.

Experience and education:

1. At least five years of professional experience in software development.
2. Have designed, developed, launched and maintained services with tight cloud infrastructure integration.
3. Ideally, holding certification as an AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Developer or be willing to earn certification within the first year at NAVBLUE (supported and funded by NAVBLUE).
4. You have a College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree within the software engineering area of study or equivalent professional experience.
5. Excellent communication in English
