Lead PHP Engineer

Our client is an award-winning global tax services and software provider, and the largest firm in the world dedicated exclusively to business taxes. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the firm provides an integrated suite of federal, state, local, and international tax services on a multijurisdictional basis, including tax recovery, consulting, advocacy, compliance, and technology services. Their expertise spans tax recovery, consulting, advocacy, compliance, and technology services. 

Project: a VAT recovery system designed for clients in European countries, aimed at automating the routine tasks typically handled by VAT specialists. The client team is based in Braga, Portugal.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development team and establish technical processes

• Contribute to the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications

• Ensure proper technical implementation of product requirements and specifications

• Ensure the development progress is within the specified time and scope

• Provide high-quality app design with proper design patterns, well-structured, modular, performant application code

• Oversee the best implementation of selected architecture

• Establish proper technical processes, including code reviews, test coverage, and CI/CD

• Serve as a technical mentor in the development

• Run and actively participate in Agile processes and events

• Share new ideas, techniques, and methodologies

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 years of commercial experience as a PHP/Laravel developer

• Technical leadership experience is a must

• At least upper-intermediate English level

• Solid knowledge and experience with PHP and the Laravel framework

• Confident knowledge of Object-Oriented Design principles

• Experience with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)

• Experience working with YAML and XML documents and files

• Experience working with 3rd party APIs and web services

• Skilled in using Git or another version control system

• Good theoretical understanding of software development

• Experience working in an Agile (preferably SCRUM) environment

• Strong communication skills

• Team player, responsible, and hardworking

Will be a plus:

• Good understanding of JavaScript (ES6, TypeScript), HTML and CSS
