Database Engineer (.Net&SQL)

As we expand and integrate advanced AI capabilities for audio enhancement, transcription, and translation, the volume of data we capture, process, and report is growing exponentially. That’s why we’re looking for a Database Engineer who is not only an expert in database programming but also highly skilled in .NET and Entity Framework.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize database architectures to support high-volume, high-performance systems.

• Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless integration between databases and .NET applications using Entity Framework (Code First).

• Replace EF-generated migrations with custom SQL where necessary to improve performance or maintain compatibility.

• Develop and maintain backward-compatible database migrations to ensure seamless application upgrades.

• Split large database schemas into smaller, modular schemas while providing solutions for synchronizing shared tables.

• Research and implement NoSQL solutions for specific schemas where appropriate.

• Advise on database maintenance, administration, and high availability strategies (e.g., MS SQL High Availability Groups, replication).

• Work with modern SQL Server datatypes like JSON to store and query semi-structured data efficiently.

• Create advanced reporting solutions to meet business and operational needs.

• Guide the team in migrating to cloud database solutions while ensuring scalability, security, and performance.

• Design database solutions for systems with indefinite data retention, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of historical data.

• Optimize database queries and structures for performance and scalability.

• Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful cloud deployment.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Basic Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on database programming.

• Proven expertise in both NET/C# development and Entity Framework (Code First).

• Strong database programming skills, with significant experience in SQL, particularly T-SQL.

• Experience with database optimization techniques and the ability to analyze and improve query performance.

• Knowledge of database administration concepts, including replication, high availability and disaster recovery.

• Ability to design and implement modular database schemas and synchronize shared tables across schemas.

• Experience with NoSQL databases and the ability to evaluate their suitability for specific use cases.

• Familiarity with modern SQL Server datatypes like JSON and the ability to work with semi-structured data.

• Familiarity with cloud database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar) and migration strategies.

• Ability to create advanced reporting solutions and work with reporting tools.

• Strong understanding of backward-compatible database migrations and strategies for seamless application upgrades.

• Experience designing database solutions for systems with long-term or indefinite data retention.

• Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and experience with data integration tools (Oracle Business Intelligence EE, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Jasper, Microsoft Analysis, SAP Business Objects, etc.).

• Knowledge of security aspects related to database design and management.

• Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
