Backend Engineer (Kotlin, Java)

Job Description

• Design, architectural creation and development of products from scratch
• Implementing innovative concepts and adopting modern technologies to achieve set goals
• Integrating third-party vendor solutions with backend systems
• Participating in pair- and mob-programming sessions with other engineers
• Sharing knowledge and giving presentations at internal team meetings
• Collaborating with product designers, operations teams and company founders to solve challenges and strategically plan for the future
• Adopting a DevOps mentality and responsibility for CI/CD infrastructure
• Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the recruitment process to build a strong team

The Successful Applicant

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in software engineering, especially in SaaS, fintech or payment technology related companies
• Advanced knowledge of JVM languages, especially Kotlin and Java
• University degree in Computer Science
• API-first approach and ability to independently solve problems and deliver value in short iterations
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and automated testing
• Fluency in English

Nice to have:

• Experience working in startups
• Experience in the area of financial or payment technologies
• Familiarity with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS
• Ability to create and manage APIs
• Experience in implementation and design of systems based on event-sourcing or event-streaming - knowledge of tools such as Kafka or Pulsar
