Senior Linux Cloud Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Linux Cloud Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team and take ownership of large-scale, mission-critical cloud infrastructure.

You will work at the intersection of Linux systems, cloud platforms, and automation, helping to evolve and stabilize environments that support global operations within the Lufthansa Group.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and automation at scale, in a highly collaborative, international Agile environment.

Your responsibilities:

• Own and evolve large-scale Linux-based cloud environments (Azure / GCP).

• Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and configuration tools.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across systems and network layers.

• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of critical infrastructure.

• Support incident response and contribute to root cause analysis and long-term fixes.

• Collaborate with engineering teams as a technical expert and advisor.

Our requirements:

• Min 5+ years of hands-on Linux engineering experience (L3 level).

• Strong expertise in Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) and internals.

• Proven experience in production troubleshooting and performance tuning.

• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, TLS, load balancing).

• Hands-on experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform.

• Strong Terraform experience (modules, state, multi-environment setups).

• Experience with Ansible or Puppet.

• Hands-on experience with scripting in Bash and Python.

• Experience with traffic/proxy layers (NGINX, HAProxy, or Envoy).

• Familiarity with system/network debugging tools (tcpdump, ss, iproute2, Wireshark).

• Experience in ITIL-based production environments (incident/change/problem).

• Strong English communication skills (B2+/C1).

• Willingness to come to our office in Gdańsk two days a week or relocate to Trójmiasto.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux).

• Background in large enterprise or regulated environments.

• Ability to communicate in German
