Observability Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Observability Engineering Lead to spearhead the implementation and management of advanced observability and monitoring solutions across our IT infrastructure. This is a dynamic role that combines technical expertise, team leadership, and project management, aimed at optimizing system reliability and ensuring seamless IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering

• Collaborate with teams managing various systems and applications (Azure, Kubernetes, SAP, WMS) to identify their monitoring and observability needs.
• Document business and technical requirements for monitoring systems.

Solution Implementation

• Select and implement appropriate tools and technologies for application and business process monitoring.
• Design and deploy observability solutions following industry best practices.
• Integrate observability tools with existing systems and applications.

Maintenance and Development

• Oversee the performance and continuity of implemented observability solutions.
• Analyze and resolve issues related to observability systems.
• Introduce enhancements and updates to monitoring tools as needed.
• Train technical teams on the use of observability tools.

Team Leadership

• Manage and organize the work of development and maintenance teams.
• Assign tasks, build work schedules, and monitor progress.
• Adapt plans as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
• Oversee external vendor contracts, including negotiations, service monitoring, and settlements.

Project Management

• Create and maintain project documentation.
• Provide regular progress updates to senior management.
• Identify project risks and implement preventive measures.

Requirements:

Key Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix) and public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with various IT teams.
• Ability to gather and analyze business and technical requirements.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in IT monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog, and New Relic.
• Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem.
• Familiarity with SAP and WMS systems is a plus.

Experience

• Proven experience implementing and managing observability tools.
• Experience leading technical teams.
• Strong background in IT project management, including scheduling and team organization.
• Experience managing contracts with external vendors.

Languages

• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
