🚀 About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer / Tech Lead to join Kyotu Technology and help build and evolve complex enterprise systems.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, writing high-quality code, mentoring developers, and supporting teams in delivering scalable, reliable software solutions.

We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with curiosity, ownership, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. Beyond backend development, you'll have the opportunity to explore and apply modern technologies, including AI, LLMs, and machine learning, where they can bring real business value.

🧠 Your responsibilities

• develop and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using Java and Spring Boot

• lead technical initiatives within the development team and support engineers in delivering high-quality solutions

• collaborate with product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to understand business needs

• participate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution design

• write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following engineering best practices

• review code, mentor team members, and promote high engineering standards

• identify technical challenges and proactively propose improvements

• support software delivery throughout the entire development lifecycle

• contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, CI/CD, and engineering practices

• explore and evaluate new technologies and engineering approaches

🧩 Must haves

• minimum 8+ years of commercial experience in software development

• very good knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise application development

• experience acting as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or senior technical mentor

• experience developing distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven applications

• experience with REST APIs, messaging solutions (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ), and system integrations

• experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB)

• experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• strong understanding of software design principles, scalability, security, and performance optimization

• ability to support technical decision-making and guide development teams

• strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership mindset

• willingness to evaluate and adopt new technologies where they create business value

• English and German at B2 level or higher
