RPG Engineer

We are looking for an RPG Software Engineer to join a team responsible for the ongoing development, support, and modernization of a Transport Management System (TMS) being consolidated into a single SaaS platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications running on IBM i (AS400)
• Work with RPG (RPG/400, ILE RPG, Free Format RPG) to support and evolve core business functionality
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize existing transactional systems
• Design and implement integrations using REST APIs, JSON, and XML
• Collaborate with integration teams working on Java-based services and modern web technologies
• Support modernization initiatives and migration activities within the platform
• Ensure system stability, performance, and reliability across business-critical processes
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and solution design activities
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and security

Ideal candidate profile

• Strong commercial experience with RPG (RPG/400, ILE RPG, Free Format RPG)
• Solid knowledge of IBM i (AS400) environments
• Hands-on experience with 5250-based applications
• Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
• Knowledge of JSON and XML data formats
• Understanding of enterprise application support and maintenance
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within distributed international teams
• English min. B2
